New connection between Paris and Punta Cana.

The first French low-cost airline with long-haul flights began operations last Saturday. Your destination: Punta Cana.

The inaugural flight of French Blue, a subsidiary of the French company Grupo Dubreuil, arrived on the afternoon of that day at Punta Cana International Airport from Orly airport in Paris.

Why choose Punta Cana for its premiere? According to Jean Paul Dubreuil, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Dubreuil Group, because it is a complete destination, with an offer for different audiences, several tourist attractions and the busiest airport in the country.

Flights

The line will have four weekly flights to Punta Cana and in November three will be added to Santo Domingo, informed Eugenio de Hostos, executive director of General Air Services, which represents the new airline in the country, in addition to Air Caraïbes, also owned by the Group. Dubreuil.

The frequency of flights, he argued, will contribute to achieving the Dominican government’s goal of continuing to increase the flow of foreign tourists visiting the country.

The number of French people who arrive each year in the Dominican Republic is around 230,000, said the French ambassador, José Gómez, for whom the opening of an airline “means more exchange, more relationships”

De Hostos said he was confident that with the new French Blue plane (an Airbus A330-300 with capacity for 378 passengers) and a frequency of four weekly flights “we can take that figure to 300,000.”

A firm dossier indicated that in three months he had registered more than 20,000 reservations. The airline was launched with special introductory prices.

Rates

The new airline would not only impact Dominican tourism.

“Tourism is very important for the Dominican Republic,” Dubreuil said, “but also for France, and with the prices we have, Dominicans will also be able to come to France on vacation.”

Although it is defined as “low cost”, the line has three different rates and, therefore, options for different audiences: Basic, Smart and Premium.

In June 2017 French Blue will start flying to La Réunion (French overseas department located in the Indian Ocean). For the spring of 2018, it plans to add two Airbus A350-900 aircraft to its fleet.
