El-Al airline will fly this year to the DR
Vice Minister of Tourism Fausto Fernández announced that the El-Al airline, Israel’s flag carrier, will inaugurate this year its first flight from Tel-Aviv to Punta Cana on October 7 of this year, opening a new and important niche in the Israeli market for the Dominican Republic.
“2016 shows signs that it is going to be a better year than the previous one,” Fernández said during a press conference called to announce the results of the work agenda achieved so far at the ITB in Berlin. The Vice Minister of Tourism explained that MonaTours, the largest operator in Israel, signed an agreement with the Globalia group for the sale of tourist packages in Tel-Aviv to Santo Domingo and Punta Cana (and with the possibility of extending to the Dominican North coast). , which according to Fernández represents a very important precedent for the country, given the level of spending by Israeli tourists (four times more than the average).
Fernández also highlighted that the Condor airline will launch additional flights on its Munich-Punta Cana and Munich-Santo Domingo routes, and AirBerlin, the main German airline, will implement business class on its regular flights to the Dominican Republic. In addition, the Edelweiss airline will double its flight frequency to Punta Cana starting in June of this year.
